1288985 Conveying articles by the action of a travelling magnetic field INSTITUT FIZIKI AN LATVIISKOI SSR 17 Dec 1969 61635/69 Heading B8A Electrically-conducting non-magnetic bodies 2 are conveyed by a travelling magnetic field by means of apparatus comprising an inductor 1 having a selectable pole pitch. The number of ampere turns of the winding, the pole pitch, and the width of the zone over which the running magnetic field passes, are selected so as to create electro-dynamic forces for conveying and simultaneously orienting the body in the course of its movement. The direction of orientation of the body is dependent upon the width of the body and the selected pole pitch.
