Abstract

1,058,372. Magnetic separators. SCHWERMASCHINENBAU ERNST THALMANN V. E. B. March 31, 1965 No. 13667/65. Heading B2J. A magnetic separator for separating magnetizable particles from material carried on a conveyor belt 2 comprises two articulated electromagnets 1, 3 which are arranged above the lower pass of an. endless belt 5 and in the direction of travel of the conveyer belt, the longer magnet I being arranged parallel with the conveyer belt and the other magnet 3 being arranged both to precede the magnet I in the direction of travel of the conveyer belt and to pivot upwardly about pivot 4 by adjusting the angle of the magnet 3 about its pivot 4, the magnetized particles can be lifted to the desired level where they lose their attraction to the belt 5 and fall into a receptacle 6. The pivot 4 may be made up either from magnetic and non-magnetic discs or as an electro-magnetic roller. The magnets may be so constructed that the strongest magnetic fields are directed towards the centre of the stream of material conveyed.
