Abstract
1,129,800. Endless conveyers. H. GROSSJOHANN. 27 Sept., 1967 [30 Sept., 1966], No. 43950/67. Heading B8A. Iron filings &c. are conveyed along a surface 8 by the action of an endless member 11 carrying magnetic-field conducting rollers 9. A magnetic field passes from magnets 4, 6, each comprising a series of magnets of like polarity extending the whole length of the conveyer through polepieces 9, 9A, respectively. The field path is completed through the conveyed material M and a central polepiece 9C to magnet 4A of opposite polarity. As shown, the polepieces 9, 9A, 9C, are carried on a non-magnetic member 10 and are spaced by non-magnetic members 14 of slightly larger diameter. The latter support the surface 8, and the polepieces roll on tracks 7. In a modification (not shown), the polepieces are in the form of rectangular blocks. In another modification (not shown), the polepieces are in the form of blocks carried by a belt instead of the chains 11.
