756,927. Shoe insoles. LOAKES, L. A., and ABBOTT, F. D. Nov. 17, 1953 [Nov. 17, 1952], No. 28987/52. Class 17 (2). Sheet material from which insoles for a pair of shoes may be cut in succession using a single knife only and without requiring the material to be turned, comprises strips 15, 16 of flexible material, such as regenerated leather, each secured at their scarfed inner edges to a plurality, e.g. a double layer 11, 12, of relatively rigid material, such as fibre-board. The sheet material is of sufficient width to enable the strips 15, 16 to form the ball portions of the insoles with double thickness of material in the waist and shank. If desired, relatively stiff marginal strips 13, 14 may be provided for the toe ends. The scarf joints between flexible and rigid materials are reinforced by the layers 11, 12.
