Abstract

490,491. Insoles for boots and shoes. GROVES, W. W. (Sewall, A. C.) Dec. 8, 1937, No. 33985. [Class 17 (ii)] A sheet from which insoles with relatively stiff heel and shank portions and relatively flexible ball portions may be cut, has a relatively stiff zone and a relatively flexible zone at the opposite side edges. This flexible zone may be of sufficient width for both the ball and toe portions, as shown in Fig. 1, or, as shown in Fig. 5, it may be narrower and for the ball portion only, the toe portions being formed from strips 33 of relatively stiff material secured to the edges of the flexible zones 31. The heel and shank portions of the insole may be formed of stiff hard fibre-board and the ball portions of rubber impregnated flexible sheet material consisting of felted cellulose fibres.
