Compound fabrics.-In a composite sole or heel in which parallel strips of fabric are arranged with their edges exposed to wear, the strips 3 are placed transversely of the sole &c. 1. In another form, the strips are placed in parallel curves transversely of the sole &c. The sole may be moulded to shape, or cut from a sheet of rubber material in which fabric strips are arranged as above described.
