Abstract

756,787. Electrically heated hoses. HERON, A. G. May 10, 1955 [May 12, 1954], No. 13857/54. Class 39(3). [Also in Groups XXVIII and XXIX] The electrically heated hose described in the parent Specification is modified in that one of two conductors consists of a length of flattened braided conducting wire D which is embedded in a strip of rubber C formed separately from the body of the hose A but bonded to the hose during manufacture of the latter. In Fig. 1 a braided wire conductor B of circular cross section is embedded in the body of the hose, and in the modification shown in Fig. 2, a number of series connected braided wire conducting strips E of arcuate cross section are provided. Fig. 3 shows how the hose A is connected to a spray gun G and to a step-down transformer F. The portion of the gun adjacent the passage leading to the spraying jet may be of metal and be included in the electrical circuit, the metal having an electrical resistance such that heat is generated up to the jet. The conductor D in the strip C may be of such a resistance that it dissipates heat as well as the conductor in the body of the hose ; alternatively, it may vertually constitute a conductor only. If the air supply to the gun is to be heated by a second hose as described in the parent Specification, the strip conductors of the two hoses are not used.
