2 Claims.
This invention relates to radio apparatus and is generally aimed to provide a novel means whereby the usual antenna may be eliminated.
More specifically, an object is to provide a construction wherein the current supplied to the antenna or aerial connection of the radio is taken from a conductor magnetically receiving the same from a coil of the feed wire of the circuit.
The more specific objects and advantages will become apparent from a consideration of the description following taken in connection with accompanying drawing illustrating an operative embodiment.

Figure 1 is a view in elevation showing my improvements applied to a radio receiving set,
Figure 2 is an enlarged view, partly broken away to disclose details, illustrating the coil in the feed wire, and the associated conductor coil, 20 and Figure 3 is a cross sectional view taken on the line 3-3 of Figure 2.
Referring specifically to the drawing, designates a radio receiving set of conventional type adapted to be supplied with electric current from a house lighting system, for example, through feed wires 11 having a plug 12 connected thereto whose terminals 13 are adapted for detachable application in a lighting socket or the like 14. Said wires 11 intermediate the ends thereof are formed into a coil at 15 and such wires of course are insulated from each other and are externally covered with insulation as at 16, the wires being of the braided type, as known in the trade.
The ground wire for the receiving set 10 is shown at 17.
In lieu of the usual antenna or aerial, a copper sleeve or tube 18 is formed in a coil and encloses and surrounds the coil 15, however, having no direct electrical connection therewith since it is insulated therefrom by the material 16. In lieu of copper, any other satisfactory conducting metal may be used for the tubular coil 18.
A wire or conductor 19 may be detachably clipped as at 20, forming a direct metallic and electrical connection with the tubing 18, such wire also being connected to the aerial or antenna plug 21 of the radio receiving set 10.
The wires 11 and their insulation may be sectional and include a preferable plug 22 therein as shown.
As a result of the construction described, the current which passes through the conductor 19 is received magnetically by the tubing 18.
Various changes may be resorted to provided they fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
What is claimed is:--
1. In combination with the power supply lead wires of radio apparatus having a conducting portion thereof formed intoa coil, an outer conductor of semirigid tubing forming a self-sustaining coil, said self-sustaining coil surrounding said power supply lead wires at an intermediate section only of the latter so that the selfsustaining coil will be spaced from the radio apparatus and spaced from the connection with the source of power, the power supply wires being covered by insulation whereby a condenser is formed between the wires and the outer conductor when the outer conductor is placed therearound, the axes of the two coils being the same, and means for connecting said second coil electrically to the antenna connection of the radio apparatus.
2. In combination with the power supply lead wires of a radio apparatus having a conducting portion thereof formed into a coil, insulation on said coil, a self-sustaining conducting coil of semirigid tubing surrounding the first coil and being maintained out of metallic contact therewith by said insulation and serving as a condenser said second coil being a metallic sheath or covering, the axes of the coils being the same means for connecting said second coil electrically to the antenna connection of the radio apparatus, means of detachable connection between the second mentioned coil and said means, and a separable plug connection between the first mentioned coil and remainder of the lead wires, said second coil being disposed between said plug connection and the connection with the source of power and spaced from the latter connection.
