[Also in Group V] A cable comprises a number of helically-set non-circular cores laid together to form a circular conductor, each core having an insulating covering of synthetic resin or rubber, and longitudinal grooves being formed in the insulating covering. Some or all of these grooves register with similar grooves in neighbouring coverings, thus providing ducts which may be filled with gaseous, liquid or other fillings for the purpose of varying the electrical properties of the cable, or cooling it, or eliminating free space between the cores.
