Abstract

756,376. Winding reserve lengths of yarn. BAXTER BROS. & CO., Ltd. Nov. 23, 1954 [Nov. 24, 1953], No. 32518/53. Class 120 (2). Means for producing a transfer tail on a yarn package comprises a loose member with flat upper and lower surfaces and an upturned peripheral flange, arranged between the carrier which supports the bobbin on which the yarn is being wound and the under face of the lower flange of the bobbin, said member having holes or recesses for pins or projections which extend upwards from the bobbin carrier and pass into the bottom flange of the bobbin, the upturned flange of the loose member being of such a height that it will partially cover a circular groove in the periphery of the lower flange of the bobbin, into which groove an inclined groove in the flange of the bobbing leads, for the formation of a transfer tail. As shown, a loose member A is arranged between the lower flange b of the bobbin B and the bobbin carrier C. The carrier C has driving pins c which project through the member A and engage in recesses b<SP>1</SP> in the bobbin flange b. The flange b is formed with a peripheral groove b<SP>2</SP> and an inclined lead-in groove b3 and the groove b<SP>2</SP> is arranged at the same level as the top of the flange a of the member A. A guide bar D is arranged slightly below the top of the flange a and yarn from a previously doffed bobbin is led over the bar D and the top of the flange a into the groove b<SP>2</SP> to form a transfer tail.
