Abstract

755,404. Rotary pumps. U.B.I. UTILIZZO BREVETTI INDUSTRIALI SOC. PER AZIONI. Nov. 30, 1954 [Nov. 30, 1953], No. 34625/54. Class 110(2) A rotary reversible pump of variable capacitycomprises a rotor 14 rotatable about a fixed axis and a rotary cage, an outer casing 1 and a stator 19 which are adapted to be oscillated about the inlet means 4 in order to vary the capacity and direction of the pump. The rotor is formed with holes 16 containing springs 17 for forcing anti-friction segments 86 outwardly into engagement with side plates 27, 28 carried by the member 4. The cage, for details of which see Figs. 5-21 (not shown), is rotatably mounted in grooves 34, 35 in the side plates with the interposition of rollers 38, the vanes 46 of the cage being positioned between wedges 65, 66 carried by the rotor. The plate 28 is slotted to receive a plate 70 forming a seating for a toothed ring 72 which meshes with a rack 74 carried by a cylinder 75. The cylinder is subjected to the delivery pressure of the pump and is spring-loaded to effect movement of the stator and rotary cage about the member 4. Return passages 25, 90 for pressure equalization purposes, bearings and seats are provided as shown. If desired, the stator and rotary cage may be moved manually.
