1424131 Rotary positive-displacement fluid machines K EICKMANN 24 Jan 1973 3648/73 Heading F1F In a sliding-vane machine, which may be a pump, motor, compressor or engine, a rotor has a body part 4 clamped between end-wall parts 5 by bolts 48 and splined to a shaft 12, vanes 3 in radial slots 47 extending axially through all of said parts having rectangular seal members I sliding on a fixed ring 7, which is embraced by the parts 5. Webs 27 at ends of a recess, or "bed", 22 for the member 1 of each vane abut annular flanges 9a on plates 9, which are coaxial with the ring 7 and supported by bearings 10. Plugs 18 close the ends of the bed. The webs may be extended to provide flanges 19 that are accommodated in annular recesses 91. As shown in Fig. 2 each vane may comprise two parts 53, 54, which have passages (57), Figs. 8A and 8B (not shown), therein to effect pressure loading of the member 1. The flanges 19 may be dispensed with, Figs. 7A and 7B (not shown). The webs 27 too may be omitted, Figs. 3A and 3B (not shown). The plugs 18 may be replaced with portions (56), Fig. 9 (not shown), of the vanes and bearings (68) may be placed at the ends of the vanes to ride on the flanges 9a. Alternative bearings are illustrated in Figs. 10 and 11 (not shown). Each vane may be furnished with two parallel seal members, Figs, 13 to 18 (not shown). Each seal member may have an oblique radially-outer surface, Figs. 19 and 20 (not shown).
