Abstract

755,056. Sliding clasp fasteners. TALON, Inc. June 15, 1954 [June 24, 1953], No. 17529/54. Addition to 740,226. Class 44. In an improvement in or modification of the slider of the parent Specification 740,226, the slider is provided with an automatic locking arrangement or member which is adapted to lock the slider at any point along the fastener elements. As shown, a cap-like locking member 27 pivoted at 26 on a lug 25 on the upper slider wing 2, is formed with a locking prong 32 and a bevelled portion 31 which normally rests on, and co-operates with a surface 18 of a spring- loaded latch member 10. Outward movement of the locking member is limited by a shouldered lug 36 on the wing 2 which co-operates with an inturned portion 34 at the free end of the locking member. A pull member 37 is provided with a trunnion portion 38 by which the pull member is pivotally attached to the slider between the lugs 25 and 36 and with a camming wall portion 41 for engagement with the surface 18 in order to effect spreading apart of the slider wings in the event of jamming. In the normal position of the parts the latch member 10 maintains the locking member in the position shown. When the slider is manipulated to open and close the fastener by means of the pull member 37, the locking member pivots about the point 26 against the spring loading of the latch member 10, thereby to free the locking prong 32 from the fastener elements.
