Abstract
754,698. Gas purifying. THYSSENCHE GAS-UND WASSERWERKE GES. Dec. 3, 1954 [Oct. 4, 1954], No. 35053/54. Class 55(2). In the removal of nitric oxide from coke oven or similar gases by subjecting the gases to at least 2 atmos. pressure for one or several minutes at 60‹-90‹C., the reaction chamber comprises the pipes connecting a compressor and after-cooler. The pipes are normally heatinsulated, but may be provided with direct or indirect cooling as by water when a high gas compression has resulted in a temperature above the optimum range. Conversely a steam or other heater may be employed. A cooling water spray also serves to wash away reaction products.
