Abstract
754,627. Cattle stocks. PFULLMAN, L. A. Oct. 20, 1954, No. 30186/54. Class 81(2). A cattle gate has an opening in its upper part across which a pivoted lever moves so as to hold the neck of an animal between itself and the latch post. The gate, which is hinged at 30, 31 to the hinge post 29, is formed with horizontal slats at its lower part while the upper part is open at the latch side so as to form a rectangular opening bounded by the top slat 16, a vertical bar 14, a top bar 32 and the latch post 28. The upper slat 16 carries a lever. 15, pivoted to it at 17, so that after an animal's head has been passed through the opening, the neck may be gripped, against the post 28, by pulling the lever 15 by a cord 42, until a latch 36 engages a ratchet 39. The gate is held closed by bolts on sliding collars 24, 25 on the post 28, these bolts passing through holes in projections on plates 47, 49 carried by the gate. The bolts are automatically tripped when the gate is closed and are disengaged by a lever which lifts a rod 27 attached to the collars 24, 25.
