Abstract

[Also in Division E1 Means for confining an animal in a passageway comprises a pair of gates 10, 11 hinged respectively to posts 12, 14 and having their free ends interconnected so that the gates can be moved simultaneously between an open position in which the animal can pass between them and a closed position in which the gates extend across the passageway to confine the animal, releasable means being provided for holding the gates in their closed positions. As described the gates are interconnected by a cable 15 arranged to pass over pulleys 16, 17 at a height such that the animal cannot become entangled therein. Gate 10 is held in the closed position by latch means 20 mounted on post 14 and gate 11 is held closed by the engagement of pivoted lever 27 over the upper horizontal member of the gate 11.
