Abstract
585,856. Doors for pens or hutches. WILKINS, E. H. J. Dec. 14, 1944, No. 25088. [Class 5 (ii)] [Also in Group XXV] In a pen or hutch, for rabbits, pigeons, poultry, and the like, provided with a vertically sliding door with vertical wire bars, one of the bars, preferably centrally located, is provided with a catch adapted to snap under a fixed horizontal member of the pen when the door is closed, to prevent it from being lifted by an enclosed animal or bird. Fig. 1 shows a door 15 slidable on vertical side wires 18, 19, the wire 22 of the door having an inwardly directed ratchet-shaped kink 23 adapted to snap under the fixed horizontal wire 14 forming part of the fixed wire closure to the upper part of the pen front. In a modification the kink is replaced by a loop in the wire.
