Abstract
1313112 Animal crates DOWNING FARMS Ltd and J W A Downing 19 April 1971 [22 Jan 1970] 3092/70 Heading AIM A crate for an animal such as a farrowing sow is defined chiefly by a number of U-shaped bars 1 secured to a frame 3 and with reinforcing side pieces 18 and cross bars 19; the crate being hinged about one bottom edge to allow the animal access. In the example shown this is effected by passing bar 20 through frame 3 and angle irons 10, although in a modification (Fig. I, not shown) the angle irons may be individually hinged to the frame. Various means may be used to hold the cage in a raised or lowered position; for instance a hook on the cage is shown engaging a chain 21 hung from some external feature, and in a further embodiment (Fig. 1, not shown) a vertical telescopically adjustable bar is slidably mounted on an upper bar of the crate and secured to an external feature.
