Abstract

550,027. Milking stalls. ALFA-LAVAL CO., Ltd., and CLARK, T. L. July 17, 1941, No. 9072. [Class 20 (i)] Milking stalls for animals such as ewes and goats are arranged side by side with open rears and hinged exit doors at the fronts, yoking bars being provided in the doors to secure the animals against endwise movement while allowing free upward and downward movement of the animals' heads. Each gate is formed in two hinged halves 9, 10 each half comprising a yoke bar 29 hinged at its lower end, and upper and intermediate guides 29a, 31 respectively, the intermediate guide enclosing springs 31a which tend to retain the yokes in open position. The upper ends of the yoke-bars are connected by an endless flexible member 33 to a catch slide 32 adapted to be slidden in a fitting 15 to close and release the yoke, the catch being retained in operative position by a stop 32a. The fitting 15 is carried by a sliding operating rod 16 connected by links 14 to the free edges of the gates whereby the gates are opened and closed. The rod 16 passes through guides 19, 20 fixed to cross bars secured to the side frames 13 of the stalls and is provided with a retaining stop 28. The milking arrangement comprises a vacuum line 2, pulsator vacuum line 5, vacuum pump, and receiving buckets 6 and 7.
