Abstract

1382253 Constraining animals JOHN H TAYLOR Ltd 17 March 1972 [19 Jan 1971] 2641/71 Heading AIM An animal's head is held between an upright 11, 12 of a frame and a rectangular yoke 1, pivoted on a diagonal bar 2 joining cross bars 3, 4. Two side gates 7, are hinged at 18 to uprights 11, 12 and secured by catches 19, each gate having a pair of doors 14, 14' with hinges 20 and catches 21. The devices may be attached to cattle crate formed by a frame 22 and panels 23 or to a pen. In use an animal driven into the crate puts its head through one of the diagonally opposite openings 5', 6' whereupon an operator can, by pulling on a rope 24, pivot the yoke 1 into an upright position to trap the neck of the beast againstan adjacent sidegate edge. The yoke is retained in position by a ratchet and pawl mechanism 9, 10.
