A fodder container mounted on runners 10 has at least one side formed with bars 14 pivotally mounted on a horizontal bar 15 so as to be capable of inwarddisplacement to allow the animals access to the fodder. Chains 17, the ends of which may be slidable along bars extending across the ends of the container, serve to prevent excessive relative movement of the bars. A roof 20 is hinged to one side or end of the container and engages straps or arms 21 so that the container may be filled beyond its normal capacity, the said straps or arms being provided with holes 22 into which pegs may be inserted to limit the lifting movement of the roof.
