986,492. Bale sledges. J. H. TAYLOR. July 28, 1961 [Aug. 6, 1960], No. 27339/60. Heading B5F. An attachment to receive bales directly from the discharge opening of a baling machine comprises a guideway formed by members 10, 11, 12 and a floor comprising a single longitudinally extending member 13 which supports the bales and is offset so that they tend to leave at one side but are retained by a gate 16, hingedly suspended from members 17 at 19. The bales are dropped in groups by-opening the gate by means of a rope 24, pulling a toggle joint 22. The gate returns to its closed position under its own weight. In another arrangement, not described in detail, the gate may be opened automatically by means responsive to pressure of a bale reaching the end of the guideway.
