Abstract

754,251. Date and like stamps. HITCH, F. J. March 30, 1954 [April 10, 1953], No. 9202/54. Class 100 (2). A device for stamping dates &c. on documents comprises a frame 10, an inking pad 26 pivoted to the frame at 27, and a stamping unit 23, each side of the unit 23 being pivotally connected to the frame by a pair of parallel links 11, 12 so that the unit can be moved from a position adjacent to the pad 26 to stamping position with its marking face maintained horizontal; springs 15, 19, 20 and a spring 30 tend to move the unit and pad respectively to inoperative positions, and a roller 28 on the pad is engaged by the upper link 12 as the unit 23 rises, to move the pad into contact with the marking face. The device may be operated by a handle 24 or by a foot-treadle connected by a link to a crossbar 18 on the link 11.
