752,672. Welding by fusion. UNION CARBIDE & CARBON CORPORATION. March 16, 1954 [April 6, 1953], No. 7668/54. Class 83 (4). A welding rod guide and electric contact jaw assembly consists of a body 10, e.g. of manganese bronze, having a central bore 11 through which passes the welding rod 12 and slotted at its outer end to form a plurality of cantilever arms 16, 17, and replaceable electric contact jaws 18, 19, e.g. of beryllium copper containing 2 per cent beryllium, located in internal recesses in the ends of the arms 16, 17. The jaws 18, 19 which are held in place by a cap 21 and set-screws 23, have V-shaped slots 30 and are tapered. An insulating casing 27 surrounds the body 10 to which is connected the electric supply conductor 13.
