Abstract

The glow ignition plug has two electrodes. The wound glow wire coil is placed on the central electrode insulator in the combustion chamber. The glow coil is protected by enclosing sleeve. The glow ignition plug is suitable for large quantity production. Around the insulator (1) of the glow plug are arranged two tube segments (7, 8) as conductors of electricity for energising glow coil. The segments are electrically insulated from the plug housing (14). One tubular segment (8) has larger circumference than the other one (7) and this larger segment carries the protecting sleve (20). The segment (8) and sleeve are connected to conduct electricity. One end of glow coil is welded on one tubular segment and other one is held on protection sleeve.
