Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce noise, by making one of a rotor electrode and a fixed side electrode from copper or the like and the other from aluminium or the like and using the copper-made electrode as an anode. CONSTITUTION:A high voltage is supplied from an ignition coil to a central terminal 7 through a hogh-voltage cable and then applied to the rotor electrode 3 through a spring 8 and a carbon electrode 9 to cause the dielectric breakdown of air in a small gap between the tip of the rotor electrode 3 and the fixed side electrode 6. The high voltage is thus distributed to the electrode 6. The high voltage is thereafter supplied to a spark plug through another high-voltage cable. At least spark-discharge part of one of the electrodes 3, 6 is made from copper or copper alloy. At least spark-discharge part of the other is amde from aluminium or aluminium alloy. These electrodes are so wired that the electrode made from the copper or copper alloy is used as an anode.
