Abstract

The spark gap or at least one gap of a number of gaps is coupled by a high impedance to the ignition- voltage source. The impedance may be a capacitor, for instance a coaxial cylindrical capacitor, or a voltage-dependent resistor. The inner conductor of a coaxial capacitor may be constituted by one plug electrode 6 and its dielectric 8 by material of the plug insulator 7, while its outer conductor 9 is connected to the plug terminal 10. The sparking plug shown is a three-gap sparking plug. <IMAGE>
