Abstract

1521313 Sparking plugs M E LINDSAY 9 Sept 1975 36963/75 Heading F1B A "surface gap" and "air gap" sparking plug includes a cylindrical body A terminating at its combustion chamber and in an inwardly projecting annular ground electrode D, a surface conductive insulator carried in the body shell and having a nose position 30 spaced concentrically within the annular electrode and projecting axially from the end of the body to an axially offset end-face and a centre electrode C carried by and exposed at the end-face of the insulator for the sequential discharge of a spark longitudinally over the insulator surface and then radially therefrom to the annular electrode. In a modification (not shown) the ground electrode is interrupted by a series of narrow notches.
