Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable multiple-point ignition, by providing a plurality of spark electrodes on the inner circumferential surface of a metal plate inserted in between a cylinder block and a cylinder head and exposed to a combustion chamber. CONSTITUTION:A metal plate 4 is inserted in between a cylinder block 1 and a cylinder head 3. The inner end of each of electrode holders 4c is protruded from the inner circumferential surface of an annular member 4a toward the axis of a combustion chamber 7. The anodes A and cathodes B of electode units 13- 20 are placed in the electrode holders 4c. The anodes A of the electrode units 13, 17 are connected to terminals 21, 22. The cathode B of the electrode unit 20 is grounded to the cylinder block 1 through a disc 33. The cathode B of the electrode unit 16 is grounded to the cylinder block 1 through a disc 34. According to this constitution, multiple-point ignition is enabled, the velocicy of combustion is heightened and the scavenging of residual gas is improved.
