Abstract

752,174. Trueing grinding wheels. LUND, Ltd., J., and DAVID, C. L. Sept. 11, 1954, No. 26367/54. Class 60 A tailstock incorporates a grinding wheel forming device having an . intermediate slide B and a top slide H on which is mounted the forming tool J. The slide B is moved on a base slide A by a piston D and a cylinder C while the slide H is moved by a cam L and a followed M which are held in contact by a piston O and a cylinder N. When changing the cam L for a different grinding operation, a setting gauge (not shown) is mounted between the workhead and the tailstock centre E to enable the tool J to be quickly set to the new position. The centre E is mounted in a sleeve T inclined at a small angle and adapted to be adjusted by means of two nuts V to enable the centre E to be aligned with the workhead. During grinding the centre is loaded by a spring P carried in a, housing Q which has a bayonet slot to engage a pin R so that the housing may be readily withdrawn.
