752,088. Copying-turning. SCHONDORFF, A., [trading as HEGENSCHEIDT KOMM.- GES. W.]. Nov. 3, 1953 [Nov. 3, 1952], No. 30335/53. Class 83 (3). A copying-lathe, more particularly for railway-wheels, comprises a main slide fed in a direction parallel to or inclined with respect to the axis of the work and a number of individual tool-slides mounted thereon, each tool slide having individual means for feeding it in an angular direction relative to the work axis and individual tracing means connected with the feeding means to trace different portions of a pattern during longitudinal movement of the main slide. Three tools 1-3, Fig. 1, on angularly-arranged slides 8-10 respectively are fed by individual hydraulic cylinders 14-16, the whole being carried on a longitudinally-adjustable slide 17. The feed of each tool-slide is controlled by tracers 18-20 respectively which contact different portions of a pattern 21. The latter is carried at the extremity of an overhead beam 25, Fig. 2, and may be adjusted transversely and longitudinally. The main-slide 17 supporting the tool-slide is fed by a handwheel 71, Fig. 1, or automatically by means not shown, and is supported on a further slide 24 so that its inclination to the work axis may be varied.
