745,648. Copy-turning. MAXNOVO MECCANICA DI PRECISIONE SOC. PER AZIONI. Dec. 18, 1952 [Aug. 8, 1952], No. 32158/52. Class 83 (3). A copying attachment for lathes comprises a cross slide for replacing the normal slide on the saddle, a transversely movable tracercarrying slide on the cross slide, a tool-carrying slide on the tracer-carrying slide, hydraulicallyoperated mechanism carried by the cross-slide and under control of the tracer to adjust the tool transversely, a hydraulic pump and motor unit with flexible connections to said unit from the hydraulically operated mechanism and a pattern carrier secured to guideways on the lathe bed. The slide 2 which replaces the cross-slide on the normal saddle 102 supports a slide 3 for oblique movement and a tool slide 4 is transversely adjustable on the slide 3. The latter also carries a feeler 6 which controls hydraulic mechanism 5 as described in Specification 745,682. Fluid-pressure is supplied through flexible connections 10, Fig. 2, from a motor and pump unit 8, 7. The pattern 27 is carried between centres on a second main part consisting of a pair of brackets 21, 22 adjustable on a beam 20 carried by cantilever members 14, 15, which are secured to the bed of the lathe.
