848,736. Spark-erosion and copy-milling- machines; making dies. DECKEL, H., and DECKEL, F. W. June 17, 1958, No. 19373/58. Classes 83 (2), 83 (3) and 83 (4). A machine-tool comprises tracer-controlled copying-means 6 together with a spark-erosion tool 21. The cutter 5 and tracer 3 are carried by a pantograph 6 of 1 : 1 or other ratio. The work 11 and pattern 17 are carried by tables 10, 12 adjusted by hand wheels 13, 13<SP>1</SP>. A hand wheel 14 can adjust the tables vertically, either independently or jointly. The machine is initially-adjusted by locating the pattern correctly with respect to the spark-erosion tool, which is mounted on a detachable support 20. The latter is then removed, the work such as a die or mould, is rough-machined by the tool 5, and the spark-erosion tool is replaced. The work is enclosed in an oil-bath 22 and machined by the spark-erosion tool 21, which has the shape of the finished work. The tools may be fed to the work instead of the work to the tools, and the spark-erosion tool may be mounted on the pantograph.
