Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform machining without changing a tool, by numerically and separately controlling the radial and axial movement of plural tools on a surface plate and by changing only a control signal when the finished shape or diameter of a workpiece is altered.
CONSTITUTION: Four tools 21 are mounted on rests 23, which can be separately moved on a surface plate 22 in the radial direction. The surface plate 22 can be moved in the axial direction. The first, second, third and fourth tools 21 work to perform rough cutting and finish cutting according as the quantity feed is increased. The tools and a head stock 45 are fed by servomotors 42, 46 in accordance with numerical control signals to machine a workpiece.
