Abstract
991,195. Gear-finishing. F. HURTH, and H. HURTH. July 3, 1962 [Aug. 1, 1961], No. 15080/64. Divided out of 991,194. Heading B3K. A gear finishing machine comprises a resilient feed 38 of work or tool limited by a cam 27 engaging an integral part of the tool or work carrier 19. The tool 15 is rotated through change gears 17 by a motor 16 on an angularlyadjustable carrier 12. The work is carried on a table 23 adjustable about a pivot 22 to allow bevel gears to be shaved. The pivot is mounted on a slide 21 adjustable on the slide 19. The cam is rotated by a motor 29 which also rotates switch-operating discs 33, 34. The pressure of the spring 38 can be adjusted by screw-gearing 39, 40 and may be replaced by hydraulic means. The cam 27 is rotated at a fast rate to allow infeed and then slowly while cutting takes place. The cam then has a dwell followed by a rapid withdrawal portion. The cam may be oscillated instead of rotated continuously. In a modification, the slide 21, Fig. 4, carries an angularlyadjustable table 41, Fig. 5, on which a workslide 42 is traversable. The work 26 is carried on a table 44 which can be tilted during traverse by an adjustable bar 45 to provide crowning. The headstocks 24, 25 carrying the work may be mounted on an intermediate swivelling plate.
