751,463. Invalid's bedsteads. CHURCH, L. J. Oct. 13, 1954 [Oct. 13, 1953 ; Oct. 23, 1953 ; July 8, 1954], No. 29481/54. Class 52(2). An invalid's bedstead is provided with a mattress frame 6 in an aperture 11 in which can slide a wheeled tray 14 for carrying a bed-pan or air-ring, the overlay 1 being provided with an opening 3 coinciding with the aperture 11 and occluded by removable overlay sections 4, 5, 19 so that, by removing one or more of the sections, and sliding the tray, the bed-pan &c. can be located in the desired position. A back rest 17 is pivoted to the head end of the tray and a pivoted stop bar 29 can be used to hold the tray towards the head end. The tray can be used after removal of appropriate overlay sections to transport towards the head end of the bed an invalid who has slipped down the bed. Frame 6 may be superposed on or constitute the main mattress frame of the bed and may be raised towards the foot end. Side frames 21 are pivoted to the frame 6 and are held in extended position by pull-out rods 22 so that, during bed-making, an invalid can be rolled on to them.
