Abstract

751,415. Magnetic separators. AKT.-GES. FUR UNTERNEHMUNGEN DER EISENUND STAHLINDUSTRIE. May 13, 1954 No. 14044/54. Class 117. A drum magnetic separator comprises a rotatable multipolar magnet system 4 (at least 12 and preferably 30-48 poles) surrounded by an independently rotatable drum cover 3 of thin non-magnetic material, which is driven faster than the magnet system to prevent bunching of the particles. Blowing nozzles 15 are arranged above the drum to assist in loosening the material and a suction tube 16 is provided to remove dust. A ribbed soft iron drum 7 is provided to remove the magnetic material. Arrangements with a number of magnet systems on the same shaft enclosed in separate covers or a single cover are described, Figs. 7 . . . 10 (not shown).
