Abstract
757,667. Magnetic separators. SPODIG, H. Sept. 2, 1954 [Oct. 9, 1953], No. 25537/54. Class 117. A homopolar permanent magnet separator especially suitable for liquids and sludges comprises a hollow ferro-magnetic cylinder 1 mounted in a ferro-magnetic casing 2 and energised by magnets 5. The top of the casing is closed by a rubber roller 3. Material is introduced at opening 8 and flows through to outlets 10 while the magnetic particles adhere to the roller 1 and are removed by a stripper 9. The walls of the casing may be covered with a thin sheet of non-magnetic material. Modifications.-The energising magnets may be annular magnets surrounding non-magnetic stub axles on which the drum is mounted, Fig. 3 (not shown), or bar magnets between a ferromagnetic axle and the casing. Fig. 4 (not shown).
