Abstract
751,407. Cold and heat retaining vessels. LANDERS, FRARY & CLARK. April 22, 1954, No. 11628/54. Class 64(2). [Also in Group XVII] In a container for keeping a beverage hot or cold and comprising an inner shell 32 spaced at the sides and bottom from an outer shell 10, an out-turned flange 50 around the top of the inner shell 32 has a downwardly facing groove into which is sealed an upwardly directed flange 60 on the inner edge of an inwardly directed flange 58 at the top of the outer shell 10 ; the bottom of the outer shell is fixed to the bottom of the inner shell, e.g. by a screw 44 engaging in a projection 38. The groove tapers and contains a compressible gasket 54 having a slot which receives the flange 60. The bottom of the inner shell has radial strengthening ribs 48. The inner shell may be moulded from ureaformaldehyde or phenol-formaldehyde resin, and the outer shell made of metal. Glass wool, asbestos or other insulating material 76 may fill the space between the two shells. A handle 18 is attached by screws 22 with compressible washers.
