Abstract

201,683. Markham, H. W. Feb. 22, 1923. Cold and heat retaining vessels. - A container for transporting and preserving icecream in brick form comprises an inner rectangular vessel 1 of porcelain, sheet metal, &c. provided with a cap 2 of downwardly tapered form, and an outer box 5 of sheet metal, wood, fibre, &c. having a liner 8 of cork or other heat-insulating material, with a lid 6 lined with a cork or other pad 9. The cap 2 is provided with a cork or like pad 2a and lifting ring 3 and serves to space the inner vessel with its walls out of actual contact with the liner. The lid 2 is adapted to be secured in position by means of a pair of spring hooks 4 which co-operate with slots 4a in the lining material to assist in centering the inner vessel. Similar hooks 7 are provided to hold the lid 6 of the outer box. The heat insulation may be obtained by means of a vacuum chamber between double walls.
