Abstract

222,544. Williams, F. March 10, 1924. Cold and heat retaining vessels.-A milk churn or other container for liquid consists of inner and outer metal casings separated by a space adapted to contain cork, asbestos, or other heat insulating material, and to be exhausted of air, the base of the lid being similarly formed. The outer casing is strengthened by being corrugated, and the unexposed surfaces of the casings are coated with bitumen or like proofing material to prevent decrease of the vacuum and also to resist corrosion. The churn shown comprises an outer casing 2, inner casing or vessel proper 3, provided with a non-return valve 6 for effecting the exhaustion, and intervening heat-insulating material 7. The lid 8 has a double base 9, 10 forming a space 11 also filled with heat insulating material and exhausted of air.
