747,529. Cold and heat retaining vessels. SOMMERFELD, R., and SOMMERFELD, J., [trading as SOMMERFELD, E., [Firm of]]. April 9, 1954 [April 11, 1953; Nov. 17, 1953], No. 10588/54. Class 64(2). [Also in Group XVII] A flask 20, has an insulating and protective casing consisting of at least two detachable portions 23, 24 which may interengage at 25 by a screwed joint or by over-lapping edges, the upper portion 23 being pushed over the neck 21 of the flask and being held by means of a resilient sleeve 30 pulled over the neck of the flask and engaging the edge of the portion 23, while the lower portion 24 serves as a drinking or eating vessel. As shown, an insulating layer 42 of air is formed between the flask 20 and the casing 23, 24, the inner surface of the casing and/or the outer surface of the flask being formed with ribs or projections 40, 41 for this purpose. A strap 29, which may also retain the lower portion 24 in engagement with the upper portion 23 may be provided and may run through a recess 28 in the bottom 27 of the casing.
