Description

patented Dec. 6, i1932 UNITED STATES 'CARL w. GLAEsnR, 'oF YoUiversirowiv, orare vBerlicum: IPRomEcroR *i Y VApplication led April l, 1931. Serial o. 529,713.1
This invention relates generally to a casing to be used as a protector for nursing bottles. protector may be utilized on other bottles in 5 order to protect the same from accidental breaking. i
' The principal object of this invention isto provide a casing made of elastic material preferably rubber and made in one piece;
` A further object ofthe invention is to provide a casing provided with a depended pe-ly ripheral fiange at its lower end.
A still further ,obJect is to provide a plurality of'bottom portions' forming a seat-for the bottle when placed within'thecasing.
With the foregoing and other objectsin view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and inthe details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment ofthe invention'herein disclosed, can be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
The invention will be better understood by parts broken away Ashowingthe manner inf which the bottle is inserted in the casing.
VReferring morev particularlyl vto the draw.-
ing the'numeral l designates a casing which is preferably constructed of rubber and is moulded in shapes and sizessuitable to hold K In Figure l a bottle 2 is Vshown in its correct position with? round or other shaped bottles.
in the casing l. It will also be seen that this casing 1 is provided with a depended peri heral iiange portion 3at its lower end. i rectly above thisdepended peripheral flange 3 there is positioned a plurality ofl bottom portions 4 and 5. These bottom portions 4` andv 5 are relatively thickerthan theca'sing It is, ofcourse, understood that thev springback into lposition .cushioned spaces 8 that rtion from the bottle,v
1. l V(See FigsQQ andy Itfvvill.beseen'that4 L the bottom portions4`are larger thanthe bot-` tom portions 5. e
In inserting abottlef2 withinthe casing 1 the operation in doingthisis as follows -The operator takes the vcasing l andbendslback the bottom portions 4 andj.v The bottle 2 is placed upenn standandlthe operator slips the casing l down over the bottle 2 until the bottle is in aposition shownin Figure l. The bottom portions 4 and 5 Vare now allowed to 2 within the casing 1.`
VItwill also be seenby referringtov the g5 drawing that there are provided vhorizontal honing the bottle 'ribs 6 o n the.y interior of the casing 1 and vvertical ribs 7 dTheobjectof these ribs '6:`
and7 is to provide a cushioned means for the f casingjland also to providemeans for more i emeienuyhoiding the heat- Wii-,hin the `totti@ .-79
2. It is obviousthat'there are provi-ded air e This device should Yprove a safety means as well ase-.providing means' advantageous as 75 Y prevent rapid radiaj y' for retaining heat in a bottle within` a-casing.
With this device the probability of securing an injurythrough broken glass is practically removedshould, for any reason, a breakage b "of the bottle 2 within the casing 1 be caused.; ottle, 4
' In a device ofthe class described, a easing-` L made of rubber, alower: depending flange formedon said casing, a plurality .of bottom portions consisting of? two oppositely 'disss Y' posedbottom portions, twofother oppositely f' disposed bottom portions of relatively smaller size than the firsti mentionedbottom' 1 portions, said bottom portions being relativeyv '90V 'i v ly thickertha'n'psaidcasing, a plurality'off l f" horizontal ribsV formed on interior offsaid casing, a plurality of vertical ribs formedon interior of said casingpthusforming `a plu# Vrality of'xair cushionedspaees on the inte- '9". f rior of said casing, substantially as described d' Y A Vfor the purpose set forth..
In testimony whereof, I afiix lily-signature. Il I' Graauw.v GLAESER. y
