Abstract

751,335. Fluid-pressure brakes. KNORRBREMSE GES. Sept. 13, 1954 [Sept. 11, 1953], No. 26446/54. Class 103 (1). An accelerator for. a fluid pressure railway triple valve has an actuating piston 51 subjected on one side in chamber 53 to pressure in the main air supply line 11 and on the other side in chamber 43 to a constant control pressure also effective in the triple valve 1, such that upon brake release the accelerator becomes partially ready to operate, even though these may be some difference between the pressure in the main air line and the constant control pressure. This characteristic is effected by the drop in pressure in chamber 69 being communicated through non-return valve 85 and passage 75 to chamber 77 above the piston 79 which governs, in addition to brake pipe pressure in chamber 53, the opening or closing of valve 63. When the pressure in chamber 69 is increasing, this pressure is communicated to chamber 77 through restriction 87 at such a slow rate as not to affect the closure of valve 63.
