Abstract
749,921. Generating combustion products under pressure. BRITISH-THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. Oct. 22, 1954 [Oct. 22, 1953], No. 29230/53. Class 51(1). An apparatus for producing a flow of gaseous working fluid, which may be supplied for example to a turbo-starter of a prime mover, comprises an auxiliary reaction chamber 2 and a main reaction' chamber 1, hot gases produced by decomposition of a monofuel within the auxiliary chamber passing into the main chamber. The flow of hot gases is so directed upon admission to the main chamber as to impinge substantially directly upon a jet of monofuel injected into the main chamber whereby atomisation of the monofuel is effected. The hot gases issue into the main chamber 1 through a nozzle 5 which is disposed opposite the nozzle 6 through which the monofuel is injected. The gases from the main chamber pass through an outlet nozzle 7. The auxiliary chamber has a monofuel supply at 3 and a heater 4. The hot gases from the auxiliary chamber may alternatively be led through a pipe to the vicinity of the monofuel injected through the nozzle 6 in which case the nozzles 5 and 6 are not necessarily in alignment.
