748,815. Hinges. OLYMPIA WERKE AKT.-GES., [formerly OLYMPIA WERKE WEST GES.]. May 5, 1954 [May 18, 1953], No. 13123/54. Class 65 (2). A typewriter case consists of a base and a lid which are connected together by means of hinges each consisting of two members 2, 5 adapted to be separated by an axial displacement of one hinge member with respect to the other hinge member and characterized in that the hinge member 5 connected to the lid of the case forms at one edge a sleeve 5a wherein a pintle 6 is fastened so that it projects from the sleeve, that the hinge member 2 connected to the base of the case is provided with a pintle roll 2b adapted to receive the pintle and with a guide 2a coaxially disposed to the pintle roll and adapted to receive the sleeve 5a, that a twoarmed latch lever 8 is pivotally mounted on the hinge member 5 so that the latch lever comes to lie between the faces of the hinge members which are parallel to one another when the case is closed and that one arm 8b of the latch lever has a tooth 8c adapted to engage the free end of the pintle roll and is biased into the engaged position by a spring (not shown). The end of the lever opposite to that which carries the tooth forms a handle 8a and the spring is positioned between the handle and the side of the case. Downward movement of the lever in the disengaged position is limited by a projection 8d coming into contact with a sleeve 5a.
