[Also in Group XI] A method of manufacturing a range of alternative superimposed double shelved plate racks consists in forming all the lower shelves in an identical manner so as to provide upwardly extending members for attachment to the upper shelf or to side members of the upper shelf and fashioning a number of alternative forms of upper shelves each similar in respect of the means for connection with the lower shelves. As shown, Figs. 1 and 2, the lower shelf comprises rods 10, 11 with upturned ends 12 and a zig-zag rod having parallel portions 13 and curved portions 14 extending therebetween. In the construction shown in Fig. 1 the ends 12 are welded in holes in side rods 15 which support a suitably apertured upper shelf 16 by being provided at their rear ends with inwardly directed rods 21 to which a flange at the rear of the shelf 16 may be attached by screws 24. In the construction shown in Fig. 3 the ends 12 are welded in holes formed in side members 25 of a U-shaped rod which members are integral with a front member 26. A transverse member 27 connects the members 25 and this second embodiment of upper shelf is completed by parallel bars 28. The plate rack of either construction may be connected on the splash guard of a cooker detachably or so that it may be swung upwardly.
