Abstract

225,648. Reigersberg, M. Sept. 24, 1923. Sectional shelves. Shelving framework comprises two front posts 1 detachably connected at their top and bottom ends by a rod 7 extending the whole width of the front to a top moulding 5 and base board 6, and two rear posts 2, each detachably connected to a front post at top and bottom by bars 9 carrying pins 17 engaging holes 3 in the posts. The rear posts are spaced apart by a top shelf 14 and bottom shelf 13, holes in which fit over pins 15 on the horizontal flanges 11 of the bars 9. A cover board 19 at the top has four pins engaging holes in the tops of the posts. Rods 7 threaded to receive nuts 8 at their ends pass through the top moulding, the base board, and the front posts. Intermediate shelves are supported at their ends on bars 9 vertically adjustable by pins 17 and holes 3 on the posts. Covering strips 23 wider than the front posts are detachably connected thereto, the posts carrying screws 22 over which inclined key hole slots in the strips engage. The intermediate shelves may be removed and replaced by merchandise holding sections. The covering strips conceal the open joint between these and the posts, and joints between a series of framework units connected by the rods 7 in a row of sectional shelving or other sectional furniture.
