To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GUY D. JAoowAY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dardanelle, in the county of Yell and State of Arkansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cabinets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in furniture and more parto the drawings in which similar reference ticularly to store furniture ahd the primary l ob cct of the invention is to provide a cabl- 1 net for the particular use of clothing mer- 1 chants.

A further object of the invention resides in providing a cabinet particularly adapted to contain trousers arranged in various sizes and a still further object of the invention resides in providing a cabinet which is so constructed aS to be readily and quickly set up for use or taken down, when desired.

Still another object of the invention resides in providing a cabinet, the parts of which are so secured together as not to be affected by weather conditions and still another object resides in providing a device which is simple and durable in construct-ion, inexpensive to manufacture and one which will be very efficient and useful in operation.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter referred to and more particularly pointed out in the specification and claim.

In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this application, Figure 1 is a front elevation of the device, with parts broken away and having the front doors of the device removed. Fig. 2 is a vertical section through the device wit-h parts in elevation and. showing a door in its open po sition. Fig. 3 is a similar view through the device with the doors in their closed positions. Fig. 4 is a plan view of the device with the top removed. Fig. is a side elevation of one of the vertical bars used in forming the skeleton frame of the device. Fig. (3 is a front elevation thereof. Fig. 7 is a detail perspective view showing the manner of mounting the guides for the shelves in the vertical bars of the skeleton frame of the device. Fig. 8 is a section as seen on line 8S, of Fig. 4. Fig. 9 is a similar view as seen on line 9-9, of Fig. 4. Fig. 10 is a fragmentary plan view of the characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views and 1n which 1 indicates an inner frame consisting of plurality of vertical bars 2, which areyarranged in pairs and connected together by the horizontal transverse strlps 8. These vertical bars are so arranged as to provide a. front and rear row thereon and the strips of each row are secured together at their upper and lower ends by means of the longitudinal bars 4:, which are mounted in offsets 5 formed in the upper and lower ends of said vertical bars 2. These longitudinal bars l are secured in position to the bars 2 by means-of screws or the like, whereby to be readily removed, when desired and the outer faces thereof fit flush with the outer faces of said bars Secured to this inner frame 1, is a bottom 2 which is held in place by the lower longitudinal bars 4:, said bottom contacting with the under faces of the lowermost strips 3, above referred to. This bottom is provided with notches 7 in the front and rear edges thereof to receive the vertical bars 2 therein and the front and rear edges of said bottom fit flush with the front and rear faces, respectively, of the front and rear vertical bars 2. Secured to the under vertical bar. 2 of the rows thereof, are the walls 8, which form the side walls of the de vice and these side walls extend downwardly to the plane of the lower ends of the bars 2 and secured to said walls at the upper and lower ends thereof, are the heads 9. The beads, at the rear ends thereof project slightly beyond the rear edges of the side wall and a back or rear wall. 10 is secured to the vertical and horizontal bars of the frame between the projecting ends of these beads. Secured to the front faces of the upper and lower longitudinal bars 4., on the. front row of the vertical bars 2, are the additional beads 11 which fit with the aforesaid beads 9 to form a continuous bead. on the front and side walls of the device. A top wall 12 is also provided for the device, the same being adapted to be secured in place on the upperlongitudinal bars 4., through the medium of screws or the like. It might here be stated that the various parts of the device are preferably secured in position by means of screws, in order that the same may be quickly and readily removed and set up, when desired and also to present a device which will not be affected by the various weather conditions.

The transverse strips 3, which secure together the vertical bars 2 in pairs, have the outer free edges thereof grooved, as shown at 13 to form guides for shelves 14, which slide therein. These shelves are of such length as to abut at their rear ends, the rear wall 10 of the device and the forward edges thereof fit flush with the forward edges of said transverse strip 3. Strips or plates 15 are applied to the upper and lower faces of the shelves l l at the forward ends thereof and the same form finger pieces for the shelves, as Well as stops therefor. Various inscriptions may be applied to the outer edges of the strips 15 and the shelves, such as is indicated in Fig. 5 of the drawings and it is obvious that shelves of this character are particularly well adapted for use in connection with the supporting of trousers and similar garments of mens wear.

In order to display the garments contained on the shelves 14, it is only necessary to draw the same outwardly and in order to keep the cabinet entirely closed, when the garments are not to be displayed, transparent doors 16 are provided and hinged in position on the forward vertical bars 2. Any desired catch mechanism may be provided to retain said doors in a closed position.

From the foregoing description of the construction of my improved device, it will be seen that I have provided a cabinet, the parts of which are so secured together as to be readily taken apart, when desired. It will further be seen that in view of the particular securing means and manner of applying the various parts together, the same will not be affected by the various weather conditions and it will still further be seen that the device is one which is simple and durable in construction, inexpensive to manufacture and one which will be very cflicient and useful in operation.

WVhile I have particularly described the elements best adapted to perform the functions set forth, it is obvious that various changes in form, proportion and in the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the principles of the invention.

Having thus described this invention, what is claimed is A cabinet of the class described comprising a skeleton fran'ie-work composed of a plurality of vertical bars, arranged in rows spaced one from the other, transverse strips connecting the vertical bars of the rows in pairs and designed to form shelf guides therebetween, a plurality of longitudinal.

strips securing and bracing the bars in rows, side, rear, bottom and top walls removably secured to the frame-work, a plurality of shelves slidably mounted between the aforesaid shelf guides, and doors hingedly carried in the front of said frame-work.
