[Also in Group XXIII] A tool for accurately machining thin work comprises cutters 21 on levers 19 which are fulcrumed by a plate-spring 24 on a fixed block 25 and are adjusted by an axially-moving cone 9 engaging hardened inserts 23. Springs 27 keep the levers in contact with the cone, which is mounted on a spindle 8 supported by bearings 18 and screwed at 10 to engage a split screwedsleeve 14. The spindle 8 is rotated by a manually-operated drum 15, clamped thereto at 17, and having graduations giving vernier readings with a fixed dial 13. The sleeve 14 is axially adjustable in a tapered bore by a nut 12 to adjust the friction on the screw 10. The work may be rotated and fed between the cutters, or the cutters may be fed axially, and may be replaced by milling-cutters driven by motors on the levers 19.
